Matching One Front Tooth

This is a dental specialist's son who lives in Illinois. He had root canal treatment on his left upper front tooth several years ago after he traumatized the tooth eventually the nerve in the tooth became non-vital. Gradually over time the tooth discolored.  It was also slightly crooked. So he decided to have it aligned with orthodontics in his home state, and he flew here to Pittsburgh to have our office help him. We decided to correct his shade mismatch with a very thin porcelain veneer. With some custom staining of a shade guide and many photographs taken at different angles which we emailed to the laboratory, we had a very conservative porcelain veneer constructed which we subsequently permanently bonded to place to properly match the shades of the surrounding teeth. He was ecstatic that we could match it as closely as you see here; in as short of a period of time as this, and, in a few weeks, his gum tissue around this new veneer will turn pink and this new restoration will be indistinguishable from the other front tooth! We hope to have him return for a follow-up photo soon! (when he's back in town!). His father, who has a keen eye for restorative dentistry in addition to his dental specialty status, also was so surprised we were able to handle this so quickly and easily. (and PAINlessly!)
