Dr.
Voller "Aligns" His Practice
Dr.
Ray Voller of Kittanning has recently been certified by the Align
Technologies Corporation in the use of Invisalign. Invisalign technology
is a breakthrough in orthodontics and utilizes a series of custom-made
removable invisible aligners to gradually align crooked teeth.
clients wear each set of aligners for a minimum of two weeks each
until the desired results are achieved.
The advantages over conventional
braces is that the device is removable and allows the client
to more easily floss and brush their teeth. They are also generally
more comfortable than conventional braces. The average treatment
time is approximately 11 months. This technique works primarily
with adults but can be utilized in clients as young as 13 years
of age, as long as all the permanent teeth are in position.
The
aligners are only removed to eat and to brush and floss. The aligners
are designed and constructed using CADCAM 3-D imaging and laser
technology and the client’s actual treatment progress can
be visualized on a computer and viewed by not only the treating
dentist, but also by the client as treatment proceeds.
In addition,
the client can visualize their virtual treatment plan not only
during treatment, but they can also visualize their final results
before treatment is started. Preliminary records are obtained
and reviewed online with the lab technician, the dentist and even
the
client to come up with the correct design of the aligners. Conventional
braces may be indicated for certain clients however sometimes
a combination of Invisalign, other removable orthodontic appliances,
braces and restorative dentistry can be utilized to create and
customize the ideal smile and bite for each client.
Dr. Voller
attended an intense two-day hands on seminar in Pittsburgh
to become certified to use this new technology. Dr. Voller is one
of only
6000 dentists nationwide to have been certified in the use
of
Invisalign. More information can be obtained by visiting www.invisalign.com.
