Do you feel proud of your smile when you look at it in the mirror? If you don’t, then you aren’t alone. Many people feel the same, but you shouldn’t let it bring you down. There are a wide range of cosmetic dental treatments out there that can give you an aesthetic grin. One popular solution is porcelain veneers because of how they can fix multiple flaws at once. You may wonder what it takes to get them, so here’s what it looks like.

Step #1: A Consultation

Before you can get veneers, your dentist will first make sure they are right for you. You’ll have a consultation where your provider will talk to you about your goals. You can bring photos to show how you want your results to look like. They’ll then talk to you about what you should expect during and after this treatment, or if another route would be better to reach your goals.

Step #2: Teeth Prep

Once you and your dentist agree on a plan, it’s time to prepare your teeth. For veneers to sit flush, a small amount of enamel has to be removed from the front-facing parts of your smile. This will help ensure your final look is seamless and blends in perfectly. You will be numbed before your provider gets to work, so you shouldn’t feel much (if any) discomfort. Many people say they feel some pressure during this process.

Step #3: Crafting Your Veneers

When your teeth are prepared, you’ll then get impressions taken and sent to a dental lab. Here, a skilled artisan will sculpt your veneers out of porcelain, customizing their shape and color to fit into your smile perfectly. It takes a couple of weeks for them to be crafted, so you’ll need a temporary set placed. These will help protect your smile until your final ones are ready.

Step #4: Placement of Your Final Veneers

After a short wait, your veneers will be sent to your dentist! You’ll need to come back to the office to have them placed. Since your teeth are already prepped, there’s not much work to do aside from etching them with a mild acidic solution. This will open small pores that will get filled with dental cement, which helps make your restoration and teeth into one unit! Once this visit is done, you can then show off a renewed smile you love!
